The Vacation

 Last month my school friends and I went to Sulawesi from Jakarta for spending our school holidays. There were five persons of us. All of us were boys.

We left for Makassar on Monday afternoon. Firstly, we went to Soekarno Hatta airport, it was raining along the way and the road was a bit crowded; the car couldn’t move fast because the road was slippery. We were talking and singing while the driver was driving the car perfectly. In the Soekarno Hatta airport, we got the ticket to Makassar directly and waiting for minutes then flied to Makassar. We arrived in Sultan Hasanuddin airport at 8 p.m. then we looked for hotel, because we didn’t have any relatives, than we found a cheap and nice hotel near from the airport. 

On the next day we visited all interesting places that we could visit. Firstly we went to ford Rotterdam, the Netherland ford. We saw La Galigo museum and we bought some miniatures that related to the “ford Rotterdam”.

Then after that, we took a taxi and we went to “ford Somba Opu”. It is around 7 kilometers from our previous place, ford Rotterdam. There, we found traditional house of some regencies in south Sulawesi. We took so many pictures in every traditional house, we saw traditional house from Tana Toraja, Soppeng, Bone, Wajo and any other traditional houses.

Then on the second day we spent our day to visit another interesting places, and they are as the city-tour of Makassar. for instances: Mandala Monument, Masjid Raya, Al Markaz Al Islami, Makam Diponegoro, and Balang Tonjong. We had other interesting places to visit, but we didn’t visit all the objects because we didn’t have much time. So, we went back to our hotel at about 04.30 pm.

On the next day, we visited Losari Beach. Unfortunately, it rained when we were going around the beach, so we decided to leave soon. Then at 9.00 o’clock, when the rain was stopped. We started to go to Somba Opu souvenir. Luckily, the weather was fine so could enjoy the journey and we could also spend our money to buy all souvenirs we wanted.

At the last day, we went to Makam Syech Yusuf in Gowa. We saw the grave and learned about its history. Then about 1 pm we left to the hotel and prepared ourselves for going back to Jakarta.

Then at about 16.30 we left the hotel and went to the Hasanuddin airport. We all very happy and excited. We hope to be able to visit Makassar and all those places again.
